Data sheet AA7075
General properties
Aluminium-zinc - magnesium - copper alloy, coming from aerospace (where it is still widely used in T7xx tempers), used also for other demanding applications, whose main properties are high strength, and very good machinability. In general machinery it is traditionally used in T6xx tempers (T651 for plates), that gives peak strength but can show problems with SCC. The alloy is rather quench sensitive, and therefore strength decreases quickly with increasing thickness.
Generally used in form of sheets, plates, rods, bars, tubes.
Ex stock the following tempers are available:
- T6 (sheets, bars and tubes)
- T651 (plates).
- T7351 (plates)
- T7651 (plates)
Other tempers are delivered upon request; sheets are manufactured also with cladding.
Typical applications
Structural components with demanding requirements in terms of strength; critical parts.
Minimum mechanical properties at room temperature
